The option to change places every year is not insignificant, it allows the participants, old or new, to discover facets of the Algerian desert considered like one the most beautiful of the world according to foreign specialists but it contributes in more to the economic development of the visited regions that welcome us and the tourist promotion that this event generates.
By the same opportunity, the encouragement of the fervid of the race and the development of this athletic discipline contributes to encourage the practice of an ecological sport preserving the environment.

Since the launching of its first edition in 2001 in DJANET where, in spite of difficulties generated by the lack of materials, the participants had kept an exceptional memory, my obstruction didn't stop, thanks to them, to grow to make this Marathon of the Dunes, the sporty event universally known today.

In 2006, it is the wilaya of Ghardaïa, classified by the UNESCO World Heritage in 1982, that had been chosen to shelter the sixth edition, one of the best according to the declarations of the participants, guest journalists, and us also. This success is thanks to the experience of the new team of organization setting up, reinforced by qualified members.

And very happy with the new success of the 7th edition in the region of Biskra that had finished already, I have the pleasure to invite you to this 8th edition that will take place in the magnificent oasis of BENI ABBES in the wilaya of Bechar.

I use this occasion to thank all participants who remain faithful to us and those that participated in this Marathon of the Dunes for the first time.
And I would like also to thank all the team who always contributes to its increasing success.
